Best use of email for e-commerce websites
Many e-commerce websites acquire large numbers of email subscribers. These individuals can be drawn in with offers and promotions but if you’re not willing to put items on sale every week, what else can you send them via email?
Well, it doesn’t always have to be about sales; sometimes engaging with your audience and giving them some valuable information can be helpful. If for example, you sell branded sportswear, you may want to tell them more about the new designs your working on. If you give your subscribers an insight into the ‘behind the scenes’ part of your business, they may feel a lot closer to you and a lot more inclined to continue being a customer in the future.
There’s no doubt about it, email can play a big part in terms of improving brand loyalty but it’s an avenue that needs to be planned out carefully. You don’t want to be the type of brand who completely bombards their subscribers; otherwise, you’ll be giving them a reason on to unsubscribe. You also don’t want to be a brand that never keeps in touch with their customers, otherwise, you may as well get rid of your subscriber list altogether. You have to know who your audience is, what type of content they like and how often they’ll want it. Too many sales emails with urgent ‘buy now’ timers can pester customers so be sure to think about what your audience needs. It’s also worth noting that offers on a daily basis can cheapen your brand, and that’s probably the last thing you want to do. Your sales emails would loose impact if you release them to regularly, so we feel email marketing works best when you use it as a way to communicate, educate, inform and engage with your target audience.
